BUSHBABY MANIA!!!!!
(From Claire:) Hi! We’re alive! Last night me and my mom went outside after dark with Helen (from Scotland) who is a volunteer here, but she came to take pictures of bush babies for her studies. Helen brought out bananas, watermelon, and other fruit, so the bushbabies would come down from the trees. They came down, and we got to see them–they’re a lot smaller than you think!!! They have giant eyes, giant ears, and their tails are very fluffy. They are super-CUTE!!! Suddenly you’ll just see something falling from the tree, and a bushbaby will appear down with the food. They’re like giant raindrops!!! Bushababies are SO AWESOME!!! I feel sorry for my dad, who didn’t come out with us. We’re having a blast!!!
(Editor’s note - the Dad is off with Helen to help her tonight, at a site further down the beach.)

That sounds exciting !! It was very hot yesterday in Seattle . I know it sounds impossible, but it really happend! THere are a lot of things I want to say to you , but I can’t fit it all in 1 letter , so I’ll keep writing !
Your friend,
Helen K
P.S. Chloe is going to write ” Cherries RULE “
The BushBabies ARE Super-cute like you said. I think Helen K. is a Bush Baby(except for the the whole raindrop part):) I wonder if they eat cherries?

Claire-I wish I had had students like you in my classroom. I just love your comparing the bushbabies with “giant raindrops.” That’s perfect. I’m glad I know now that they are animals-at first I thought bush babies were babies!!! I am enjoying seeing this trip through your eyes.
Love to you all,
Joan and Emero
Lucky you and your mom, Claire. Bush babies! Their eyes fascinate me. And I hope dad got to see some in his next excursion. love, cookie
Hi kids,
Happy Anniversary to Lyanda and Tom. We will be thinking of you and remembering your wedding day!

We anxiously await more postings and photos from wherever you are headed now.
Claire, you look like you are having the time of your life!!
Be safe.
Love, mom and dad
Calling Tom, Lyanda, Claire, and the amazing creatures! We can’t join you in the big house, we can’t pet the elephants, we’ve never seen a bushbaby, but we feel close to you. Your blog is lighting up our days. Good luck, Claire, to you and the fourth graders. Thanks for letting us be part of your fabulous adventure. (I enjoy the photos, over Joan’s shoulder.) Happy anniversary (only four days late) to your Mom and Dad!
